RG477M Retro Handheld Game Console — Aluminum Alloy, Dimensity 8300, Android 14
Product description
System configuration: The RG477M runs on a Dimensity 8300 SoC built on a 4nm process. Its octa-core layout pairs a single high‑frequency A715 core (3.35GHz) with three more A715 cores (3.20GHz) plus four A510 efficiency cores (2.2GHz). Graphics are handled by a Mali‑G615 MC6. Memory comes as 8GB LPDDR5X and 128GB UFS4.0 storage. The unit ships with Android 14 and supports multiple languages. Wireless connectivity includes Wi‑Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3, and a Bluetooth module is embedded for controllers and accessories.
No preloaded games: This model does not include any preinstalled commercial game ROMs or cartridges. It provides a built‑in game front end and compatibility with Android titles and up to about 30 popular emulator cores. Users can expand storage with a microSD/TF card up to 2TB and manually add their game files to the appropriate emulators.
Upgrade and streaming features: The handheld supports Moonlight streaming for playing PC games remotely and offers HDMI output for TV display. Cooling is improved with an active fan and heat pipe plus firmware optimizations. The two analog sticks have 16 million color RGB illumination with multiple effects (steady, breathing, rainbow, chase, gaming, etc.) and adjustable brightness.
Chassis and display: The enclosure is machined aluminum alloy via CNC for a smooth, ergonomic shape and comfortable grip. Controls include two Hall-effect joysticks for improved precision and longevity and a built‑in 6‑axis gyroscope sensor. The 4.7‑inch OCA laminated touchscreen has a 1280×960 resolution and a 4:3 native aspect ratio, which is well suited to older console libraries.
Battery and extras: A 5300mAh internal battery provides several hours of play depending on load (light Android titles to heavy emulation vary). The system supports FOTA wireless updates, online multiplayer, wireless screen projection, vibration motor feedback, a 3.5mm stereo jack and USB‑C with 1080p DisplayPort output. Energy‑saving settings, a high‑speed fan, and heat dissipation hardware help manage thermals during extended sessions.

RG477V layout was uncomfortable — M feels promising
I returned the V model because rear buttons and stick placement caused hand strain for me. The screen and performance were solid, so I ordered the M variant hoping for a better ergonomics fit and will update later.

Life-changing retro gaming experience
Five stars aren’t enough — this replaced multiple older handhelds for me. Once set up with my ROMs (I used third‑party tools for organization), it became my go‑to device for GBA and other retro systems. It’s transformed how I play and manage my collection.

Great performance, minor ergonomics tradeoffs
Runs PS2 and GameCube emulation very well at 2x/3x scaling. Android games that adapt to 4:3 play fine, though some UIs glitch. Speakers are a touch quiet and the fan makes some whine at full speed. Battery lasted about five hours for my mix of use.

Powerful system but the display feels odd
Performance is strong and most PS2 games run smoothly. The wider body fits adult hands, though some will find it bulky. Inputs are mostly membrane; the joysticks are good for arcade-style play but can be overly sensitive for analog-heavy titles. The panel supports high refresh but may not feel ideal for every user.

Beware firmware updates
Worked fine until a recent update added permanent bloat and locked some settings. If you dislike unwanted software changes, avoid updating or be prepared to reinstall a different OS.

Check specs carefully on arrival
Item itself is fine, but my order arrived with 8GB/128GB while the listing stated larger specs. Double-check the unit you receive against the advertised configuration.

Beastly chip — excellent emulation with some tuning
The Dimensity 8300 delivers near-flagship performance. Tough PS2 titles like Valkyrie Profile 2 run very well; Dirge of Cerberus needs underclocking/undervolting and software renderer tweaks. Battery life is reasonable: around 4–5 hours on light use, less on heavy emulation.

Truly premium build and stellar performance
This is the nicest-feeling handheld I’ve used. The screen is bright and well suited to 4:3 classics. Performance is impressive — the processor handles PS2 and GameCube-era titles at higher internal resolutions without breaking a sweat. My first unit had a tiny hairline gap between screen and bezel, but the replacement was perfect.

Nice feel but screen arrived scratched
Build quality and handling are excellent, but my unit had a small scratch along the screen bezel. Fortunately it’s off to the side, but not ideal on a premium device.

Outstanding retro handheld — powerful and well made
I rate it around 4.6/5. The software layer from the manufacturer can be disabled if you prefer alternatives. Shoulder button clickiness and fan noise are minor issues, but the display, d‑pad and overall build are excellent. It can even run many indie PC titles via Android wrappers or streaming apps.
