Surecom SW-114 Analog CB SWR, RF & Field Strength Meter (SO-239)

Product description

This is a three-function analog test meter designed for CB radio use. The unit provides SWR, RF power and field-strength indication on a needle display and connects directly via a front-panel SO-239 (UHF) connector.

Controls include switches for forward/reverse indication and a power-range selector for roughly 10W and 100W measurements, allowing relative power checks and SWR comparisons on 50-ohm antennas and coax. The meter reads relative RF output and shows antenna mismatch by comparing forward and reflected signals.

Construction is a plastic housing with a metal SO-239 connector and a needle analog movement. The instrument is compact (roughly 120 x 70 x 40 mm), light enough to keep in a vehicle or toolbox. To use, insert the meter between the transceiver and antenna coax, key the mic to observe forward/reflected readings, and adjust antenna tuning until reflected (reverse) is minimized.

Pros

  • Simple, easy-to-read analog needle
  • Direct SO-239 connection for CB coax
  • Selectable 10W/100W ranges for practical checks

Cons

  • Not a precision lab instrument
  • Some users report variable RF readings
  • Designed for CB use, not ham transceivers

VerdictA compact, budget-friendly analog meter that covers the basics for CB antenna and coax checks. It gives useful forward/reverse and relative RF readings and helps spot mismatches on 50-ohm setups. Expect a simple, needle-driven instrument: good for routine checks and field-strength spotting, but not a laboratory-grade instrument. Best used as a practical on-the-truck or garage tool for quick SWR an

  1. William 4/5

    Field strength readings useful

Bought to gauge field strength; it shows RF from my antenna output.

  2. Armin Weißschädel 5/5

    Funktioniert einwandfrei

Wie erwartet gut; Funktionen arbeiten ohne Probleme.

  3. Brian Tamburelli 5/5

    Performs well

Made for CBs, not ham radios. Works well.

  4. Ted Z. 1/5

    Major issues

Cannot get a stable SWR calibration. Readings jump and act like wattmeters, so it's unusable for me.

  5. Almir 5/5

    Antenna tuning helper

Helps fine-tune my CB antenna precisely.

  6. Don't waste your time. The clips that holding down in the window seal are junk. I 5/5

    Good value

    Solid meter for the money.

    RF reading drifts

RF readout wanders at times, though SWR checks are reasonable.

Buen complemento para mi radio CB.
