If you had to choose one thing to wear every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would undoubtedly have to be one of my mother’s vintage 60’s coats. There’s a profound sense of nostalgia that comes with wearing something that holds such personal history and emotional value. These coats aren’t just garments; they are wearable memories that evoke thoughts of someone I deeply love. They represent a connection to my past, a legacy of style, and the enduring beauty of quality pieces that stand the test of time – a philosophy I strive to imbue in my own designs.

Who or what inspires you?

I recently read about a remarkable 100-year-old Swedish lady who has embraced blogging with such vigor and curiosity. She truly exemplifies the kind of spirit that inspires me. I am deeply moved by individuals who, regardless of their age or prior experiences, approach life with an insatiable desire to learn new things and embark on new projects. This continuous curiosity and willingness to evolve are qualities I admire greatly and strive to embody, not just in my personal life but also in my creative endeavors. It’s about finding joy and purpose in perpetual discovery.

Where’s your favorite place to be?

By the ocean. There is an unparalleled sense of calm and perspective that the ocean offers. The vastness, the rhythmic sounds of the waves, and the invigorating sea air provide a sanctuary for my mind. It’s a place where I feel truly connected to nature and find a deep sense of peace, which often translates into the serene and flowing aesthetics of my designs.

How do you define style?

For me, style is about the authentic expression of oneself. It’s about confidently wearing clothes that truly resonate with your personality or reflect your present mood, and doing so with genuine pride. True style isn’t about following fleeting trends; it’s about understanding who you are, what makes you feel good, and then choosing garments that allow that essence to shine through. It’s a personal dialogue between your inner self and your outer presentation.

What are you reading right now?

At this very moment, I’m actually not engrossed in a book! Instead, my evenings are dedicated to a knitwear project that has completely captivated me. It’s a wonderfully tactile and meditative activity that serves as a perfect form of relaxation after a busy day of designing. Engaging in a different creative outlet allows my mind to wander freely and often sparks new ideas for my main collections, proving that inspiration can come from many different forms of craft.

What’s your motto?

I am a huge admirer of quotes and mottos; I find so much wisdom and guidance in them, and there are many I strive to live by. However, if I were to choose my own, it would be:

‘Travel light with an open mind.’

This motto has been shaped by my life experiences, having lived in various countries and relocated frequently. It has taught me the invaluable lesson of letting go of material possessions and appreciating the profound lessons and unique perspectives that new places and cultures can offer. It’s about embracing adaptability, valuing experiences over things, and approaching every new encounter with curiosity and a willingness to learn. This philosophy deeply influences my approach to design, focusing on timeless pieces that offer freedom and ease, much like the mindset of a light traveler.
