Planet Bike Taurus Crochet Half-Finger Cycling Gloves — Large
Product description
Includes one pair of crochet-style half-finger cycling gloves in size Large.
Palms and thumbs are covered in a durable leather-like material with 5mm foam padding beneath and a tricot lining for added comfort. Stretchy Lycra fourchettes sit between the fingers to improve fit and breathability.
The back is made from a cotton crochet mesh that lets air circulate and absorbs moisture. A low-profile terry cloth patch on the thumb provides a convenient surface for wiping sweat. Designed for a combination of tradition and function—used in the film Breaking Away by Dave Stohler—these gloves are meant to give a secure grip on handlebars while keeping hands cool.
Pros
- Breathable crochet mesh back
- Padded leather-like palm for grip
- Terry thumb wipe for sweat
Cons
- Stitching can loosen over time
- Faux-leather areas may tear
- Padding is relatively thin
VerdictA traditional-looking, comfortable cycling glove that blends leather durability with breathable crochet mesh. Good padding and a secure feel make it a solid choice for warm-weather riding and everyday use, though long-term stitching and faux-leather wear are potential weak points.

Ideal for warm-weather rides
Exactly what I hoped for: attractive, ventilated on top and just enough palm cushioning to protect without deadening bar feel. I clean them with a damp cloth rather than laundering.

Split seams after a few weeks
They fit well and look nice, but both gloves developed seam splits in several spots within a month. Disappointed by the durability.

Grew on me
At first I missed full leather, but these have become my go-to. Easy to put on and take off, protect my palms from friction and vibration, and look good.

Retro cycling glove — comfortable
Luva confortável e bem bonita. Poderia ter alças para facilitar a retirada, mas nada grave.

Comfortable, functional short-finger gloves
They fit nicely, breathe well through the woven tops, and the padded palm does its job. A practical choice without overpaying for features.

Durable for daily use
They last about a year for me and handle heat well. Light, breathable and comfortable if you choose the right size.

Old-school look
Great retro appearance with useful cotton mesh tops for wiping sweat.

A must-have return to riding
After resuming cycling I felt numbness until I tried these. The padding helped significantly and the kevlar-style palm gave confidence after hearing about a gravel slide from a friend. Fit could be roomier for bigger hands.

Better than expected
I worried about quality at this price, but these arrived well made. The leather palms suit mountain biking and I'll check more from this brand first.

Saved my palms in a crash
I wiped out at speed onto rough asphalt and the reinforced lower palms took the abrasion—only minor scuffing. Like a helmet, gloves aren’t essential until you need them.

Holds up to wheelchair use
Bought for daily wheelchair pushing. So far the gloves have stayed intact, seams intact and padding decent while allowing airflow through the woven top.

Good comfort, mixed longevity
Very comfortable and breathable with a handy thumb wipe. Velcro holds up but stitching came loose early for me and faux-leather tore at a finger before a year.
