Cast-Aluminum Solar Post Cap for 6x6, 5.5x5.5 & 5x5 Posts
Product description
High-performance solar lighting that can run up to 12 hours on a full charge and turns on automatically at dusk. Choose between warm or bright white output using the Warm/Off/Cool slider.
Constructed from heavy-duty cast aluminum with a durable powder-coat satin finish and a real decorative glass lens, this post cap uses two surface-mount LEDs to cast a gentle, 10-lumen illumination. Color temperatures: warm natural 2700–3200 K or bright white 4500–5500 K. A long-life AA Ni‑MH rechargeable battery is supplied with the unit.
Designed to fit over an actual 6"x6", 5.5"x5.5" or 5"x5" post; an adaptor is included for the smaller posts. Installation is quick and intended for DIY — simply seat the cap on the post and secure. The low-profile design and tempered glass detail make it suitable for fences, decks and porch posts. Two surface-mounted LEDs and the integrated solar panel provide maintenance-free night lighting when sited for adequate daytime sun.
Pros
- Durable cast-aluminum construction
- Includes adapter for three post sizes
- Selectable warm/cool light modes
Cons
- Only about 10 lumens — not meant to light large areas
- Run time can drop in low-sun seasons
- Some users report occasional unit failures
VerdictA solid, metal solar post cap that balances attractive styling with practical performance. It delivers a soft, 10-lumen glow in either warm or cool tones, is straightforward to install, and fits three common post sizes with the included adapter. Build quality is a strong point; some users report occasional reliability and runtime variation in low-sun conditions.

Solid construction, great accent light
Perfect fit for my 6x6 post and looks great. Works well as an accent and highlights the post nicely.

Pricey but worth the heft
Bought a dozen for a new deck because they’re true 6x6 and fit my rough cedar posts. They aren’t extremely bright, but the metal construction feels premium. Cost is higher than plastic alternatives, but I’m happy with them.

Long-lasting performance
These caps have been working well for over two years and still perform like the day we installed them.

Runs down quickly in winter
Claimed up to 12 hours but in winter mine lasts about 4–5 hours. We do get some sun in the day, so I expected better. Built solidly, but it might benefit from a second battery.

Decent look but one failed early
I bought two for my porch and after a few weeks one stopped working. Had to reorder and wait for a replacement, which was a hassle.

Attractive but spotty reliability
I installed two on my porch posts. One worked consistently; the other failed and the replacement only works intermittently. When functional the light and build are lovely, but inconsistent performance is disappointing.

Responsive support replaced my unit quickly
One of my caps stopped working after a month. I reached out and the company promptly sent a replacement top with the solar panel. The caps look great, install easily and add useful lighting to my deck steps.

Well made and durable
Much sturdier than cheap plastic caps. Easy to fit on an actual 5.5x5.5 post and throws a nice side and downward warm light that matches my other fixtures.

Adjustable fit works for PVC fence
Installed on our new PVC fence gate. The brown finish matches well, the adjustable insert made installation easy, and they completed the look. Ordered another set after.

Excellent build and gentle light
These caps feel solid — metal, not plastic — and were simple to mount. The lens protects the LEDs well. The glow isn’t blinding but provides enough illumination to guide people on our stairs. Very pleased.

Better than expected — charges in limited sun
Bought one to test before installing more. After months it’s still performing well in a coastal spot with limited sunlight. Warm, subtle glow — not yard illumination but perfect for ambiance. I’ll be adding more.
