Coleman Classic 70-Quart Insulated Portable Cooler
Product description
What you get: one Coleman 70-quart hard cooler with a hinged lid, swing-up side handles and molded cup holders built into the top. The unit includes a stain-resistant interior liner and an integrated measuring ruler on the lid.
Construction and materials: the cooler has a rigid, insulated shell with thick insulated walls and a sealed lid to slow thawing. The interior liner resists stains and makes cleanup easier. The lid is designed to double as a seat and supports up to 250 pounds when closed.
Capacity and measurements: rated at 70 quarts and able to carry roughly 100 standard 12-oz cans, this cooler is sized for groups and multi-day outings. Cup wells accept tumblers up to about 30 oz. A recessed lip along the opening makes reaching contents simpler.
How to use it: lift and carry with the swing-up handles for short hauls; set it at camps, tailgates or beaches for cold storage and impromptu seating. The molded cup holders keep drinks upright, and the built-in ruler is handy for fishing or quick measuring tasks. Designed and manufactured in the USA for outdoor activities such as camping, backyard cookouts, festivals and beach trips.
Pros
- Very good multi-day insulation (up to 5 days in tested conditions)
- Large capacity fits roughly 100 cans and doubles as seating (250 lb)
- Practical features: cup holders, recessed lip, swing handles and ruler
Cons
- No positive latch — lid relies on friction
- Bulky and heavy when fully stocked; no wheels
- Ice retention varies a lot with load and ambient temps
VerdictA roomy, rugged cooler built for tailgates, camping, beach days and weekend trips. Excellent insulation and solid construction give multi-day cold retention under normal use; the lid can support a person, and convenient features like cup holders, a recessed lip and an integrated ruler add utility. Best for users who need capacity and durability rather than a lightweight, wheeled option.

Keeps things frozen on the road
Performed well on a two-day road trip. With ice it maintained frozen items throughout the trip.

Ideal size for fishing trips
Bought this primarily for fishing. It’s roomy enough for my catch and ice, feels solid, the lid closes well and keeps items cold while we're out on the water. Very pleased with the capacity.

Works well with extra insulation
I placed four frozen 2L bottles inside on a summer weekend. With reflective insulation lining it, bottles stayed at least half frozen from Friday morning until Monday noon in mid-80s daytime temps.

Fits my trunk and did the job
Got a great deal and it fits in my Corolla trunk unlike my taller cooler. Kept perishables cold for several hours; stayed cooler over multiple days though not as cold as day one. No wheels but manageable to carry solo with effort.

Muy buena, pero con límites
Que aguante 6 días sólo con mucho hielo; con poco hielo dura alrededor de 1–2 días. Aun así cumple bien su función.

Dependable for beach days and weekends
We use it a lot at the beach. Holds drinks and snacks without being overly bulky to carry. Keeps contents cold for hours in hot weather, seals well and the handles are comfortable. Our go-to cooler.

Confirmed long ice life in real test
I tested the 52-quart/49 L classic cooler and it held frozen blocks for well over three days. Top container melted first; others stayed partially frozen at 72–90 hours. Handles are great and the drain didn’t leak when closed.

Robust enough for bear camp
Purchased for bear hunting; size was excellent and ice lasted several days even in ~30°C conditions. Tough and worth the investment.

No secure latch
The lid just presses into place and relies on friction; there’s no positive latch to keep it locked.
