Catit PIXI Blue Cat Water Fountain — Compact Cat Drinking Fountain
Product description
The Catit PIXI is a compact drinking station for cats that includes the fountain housing, a submersible pump with a ceramic bearing for quieter operation, and one replaceable triple-stage filter. The filter combines a cotton mesh pre-screen to trap fur and debris, activated carbon to absorb odors and impurities, and ion exchange resin to reduce hardness in tap water.
PIXI offers three distinct drinking experiences to attract picky drinkers: a calm flowing surface, a focused stream via a spout, and a bubbling top. The front of the unit features a shallow bowl so your cat can drink even when the pump is turned off, and a drip-collection area routes stray drops back into the reservoir. The reservoir has a visible, backlit water-level window in the shape of the PIXI nose; whisker marks indicate the maximum fill point. A built-in sensor stops the pump automatically when water runs low and the nose flashes to warn you it needs topping up.
The pump is suspended so it contacts the housing less and runs with reduced vibration; the durable ceramic bearing helps it stay quieter and last longer. The drinking surface is deliberately wide and shallow to avoid irritating cats’ sensitive whiskers. Regular cleaning and periodic filter replacement keep the fountain performing its best.
Pros
- Multiple drinking options to entice picky cats
- Visible low-water indicator with auto shutoff
- Quiet, suspended pump with ceramic bearing
Cons
- Requires frequent filter changes for best results
- Some users report pump or residue issues over time
- Body is plastic, which may show buildup in hard water homes
VerdictThe PIXI fountain is designed to tempt fussy felines with multiple surface and stream options while keeping water cleaner and quieter than many competing models. Its backlit water-level window and automatic low-water shutoff make refills obvious and protect the pump. Build quality is generally good and the suspended pump with a ceramic bearing runs discreetly, though some users report maintenance

Worked well until the pump gave out
The cats liked it, but the pump failed and I had to buy a replacement pump to get it running again.

My cats took to it right away
My cats have used several Catit-style fountains and this one is great because they don’t have to awkwardly lean in. I like the clear low-water indicator and it’s simple to refill without splashing. Unfortunately I’ve had issues before with filters growing gross things in an older house; I’ve tried both brand and generic filters and had the same problem. Aside from that concern, the design is adorable and the cats seem happy drinking from it.

Our cat prefers it over a bowl
We picked this because our cat kept drinking from a shallow blue bowl and needed more water. He sniffed it and started using it quickly. It’s well made, easy to assemble and clean, and holds a good amount. Note that the box only includes one filter, so order extras.

Keeps running and the cat is happy
It’s been working without problems for a long time, the cat likes it, and with occasional cleaning it lasts a while.

Thought I ordered stainless but got plastic
My cats adapted quickly and the flowing water kept them drinking. I liked the cute look and the capacity lasts several days between fills. However, the fountain body is plastic despite expectations, and I noticed a residue building up with hard water. The pump clogs regularly and eventually I had to replace it with a cheap spare, but overall it’s a decent, quiet fountain.

Quiet and easy for my cat
The fountain is silent, very easy to use, and comfortable for the cat to drink from.

Looks nice but mine failed
At first it worked fine, but after a month the motor stopped and I found mold developing around the base and inside. Even heavy cleaning didn’t fix the pump issues. The plastic feels cheap and I worry it can affect water quality. It’s disappointing given the price and the cute design—be cautious.

Great for an older, noise-sensitive cat
I needed a quiet fountain for an older cat and set this up easily. The filter snaps in place and the only sound is the stream hitting the metal spout. The fill line is a bit hard to see unless you step back, but the red light for low water is clear. My cat even splashed at it with her paw — I’ve been slowly training her to drink from it and it’s holding a good amount of water.

Ideal for multiple picky cats
I have four picky boys and this was our third fountain try — this one wins. It’s nearly silent, simple to clean, and the sight window plus the little light are handy. The shallow top lets one of my cats dip a paw without emptying the bowl. Design and functionality make it a strong choice for multiple-cat homes.

How I fixed a stopped pump
After my pump quit I took it apart — it’s a basic submersible unit. Unplug and lift it out, remove the cover and the impeller housing, then pull the little fan-like impeller out (tweezers help). Clean any gunk with water and a Q-tip, reassemble and test in a bowl of water. If that fails, a very small USB submersible pump will fit through the slot and is inexpensive to replace.
