Homax Rhodes Medium Steel Wool Pads (#1) — 16-Pack Household Set
Product description
This package contains 16 medium-grade (#1) steel wool pads intended for household and light industrial tasks. The pads are made from uniform, finely drawn steel filaments that deliver moderate abrasion without being overly aggressive. Each pad is sized to be hand-friendly and flexible enough to access crevices and rounded edges.
Use these pads to prepare bare wood for its first coat by smoothing raised grain, to scuff and degloss painted surfaces before refinishing, and to clean copper plumbing fittings. They’re also practical for maintaining linoleum or gently abrading bowling balls. After wet use, rinse and stand the pads to dry to slow rusting and extend usable life.
Pros
- Versatile for many surfaces
- Flexible, conforms to corners
- 16 pads per pack
Cons
- Rusts if left wet
- Leaves steel residue on some metals
- Not suitable for delicate glass
VerdictA versatile, medium-abrasion steel wool pack that handles tasks from smoothing wood to removing surface grime. The 16 pads are flexible, effective, and suitable for a range of household and DIY jobs, though they will rust after extended wet use.

Perfect for stove glass
I bought the finer grade to avoid scratches and they work very well on my wood stove door glass. With so many pads I can clean frequently. I rinse and squeeze each pad, then stand it upright to dry which reduces rust and extends life. Good size and value; I would buy again.
