Breville Compact Smart Countertop Oven — Compact Toaster Oven
Product description
The Breville Compact Smart Countertop Oven and Toaster Oven packs the key features of a larger Smart Oven into a smaller footprint. It runs on 1800 watts and uses Element iQ technology — five independent quartz heating elements with smart algorithms that direct power where it’s needed to produce consistent results and speed up preheating.
Eight pre-set cooking functions are available: Toast, Bagel, Bake, Broil, Pizza, Roast, Cookies, and Reheat. The control scheme combines push-buttons with a turn knob and an easy-to-read backlit LCD that shows the selected function, temperature and timer. You can adjust time (from 1 minute up to 2 hours) and temperature (120°F–450°F) manually; the oven also memorizes custom settings for the presets. Additional controls include defrost, Celsius/Fahrenheit conversion and a large start/cancel button.
The interior measures approximately 12 x 10 x 4.25 inches, accommodating four slices of bread, a 12-inch pizza or a roast chicken on one of three rack positions. The cavity has a nonstick coating for easier cleanup, and there’s a front-access removable crumb tray. A tempered-glass door provides visibility while cooking. Accessories shipped with the oven include a 10 x 10-inch enamel baking pan and a 10 x 10-inch enamel broil rack. The outer housing is finished in coated/brushed steel with modern styling, and the unit’s footprint is about 16.5 x 14.25 x 10 inches. A one-year limited warranty is included.
Pros
- Element iQ delivers even, efficient heating
- Fits a 12-inch pizza and four slices of toast
- Simple controls with a clear backlit LCD
Cons
- Included enamel pan is relatively small
- Takes up counter depth when door is open
- Not intended for heavy continuous commercial use
VerdictA versatile small oven that delivers even heating and quick preheats thanks to Element iQ and 1800 watts. It’s roomy enough for a roast chicken or a 12" pizza while staying compact on the counter. The intuitive dial-and-button controls plus an LCD make it straightforward to use. Note the included enamel pan is small and the unit occupies counter depth when the door is open, but for most households

Handy replacement for the full-size oven
Great little oven — I rarely turn on the big range now. It roasts meats and cooks sides like potatoes very well, and it heats up quickly.

Excellent heating controls, easy cleanup
Best toaster oven I’ve owned in decades. Controls are straightforward and the crumb tray makes cleaning simple. The supplied tray is small for some frozen pizzas, so I bought a larger pizza tray separately.

Replaced my full oven — loved it enough to buy twice
Used daily for years and it cooked reliably for most tasks, including whole roasts. After five years the first unit finally failed, but I bought the same model again because it’s easy to use and feels substantial.

Second Breville and very pleased
This toaster oven handles toast and frozen meals exactly as I want. Temperature settings and warming levels are precise and intuitive. Built well and easy to operate — so far I’m very happy with it.

Smaller model works well for us
We downsized from the larger version and haven’t regretted it. Heats up fast and cookie and reheating modes work well. Expect to still use the counter space in front — the door needs room to open.

Returned due to packaging/label issues
I inspected the unit before use and couldn’t find a serial number as the manual instructed. After a long call with support and unclear batch labeling, I decided to return it rather than deal with the paperwork hassle.

Perfect size and feature set
Plenty of cooking options in a compact package. A bit pricey but well made and attractive — I’d recommend it.

Daily favorite — still going strong after nearly two years
We use this oven every day and it’s been dependable for almost two years. It reheats food more evenly than a microwave and crisps fries and bread well. From Pop-Tarts to cookies and pizza, it handles a wide variety of meals without turning meats rubbery the way microwaves can.

Totally satisfied — many practical features
I liked the look and the removable cutting board fits nicely on top. Controls are simple, the crumb tray is handy and it toasts consistently. I use it regularly for casseroles, fries and baked potatoes.

Great investment for two people
Ideal for cooking for two. I added the bamboo board and a pizza tray which I recommend. It bakes great small pizzas and we use it most days.

Thoughtful design but watch for hot spots
Well laid out and attractive, this oven modernized my counter. It performs very well for most tasks, though I have noticed a few hot spots depending on rack position. Overall an upgrade, but not flawless.

Researched choice — compact and reliable
I needed a small, dependable oven without extra features to fail. This unit gives a lot of function in a tight footprint — toasts, bakes and broils well and fit my space constraints perfectly.
