Bialetti Moka Express 3-Cup Aluminum Stovetop Coffee Pot
Product description
The original Moka Express is the signature stovetop coffee maker designed to reproduce the classic Italian moka experience. This model is the 3-cup version (approximately 4.3 oz / 130 ml total yield) in silver aluminum. It includes the three-piece moka assembly: a bottom water boiler with safety valve, a filter funnel for ground coffee, and the upper collection chamber with spout and lid.
Built in Italy, the pot features a patented safety valve for pressure relief and straightforward cleaning. The ergonomic handle stays out of the way during brewing and allows a secure grip. The aluminum body heats quickly and is available in multiple sizes measured in espresso cups; you can enjoy the output in traditional espresso cups or dilute it into a larger cup if preferred. For induction ranges, use Bialetti’s dedicated induction adapter plate to ensure proper heating.
To brew: fill the lower boiler up to the safety valve, insert the filter funnel, fill it with ground coffee without tamping, and screw the top on firmly. Place the moka on a suitable heat source (gas or electric); when the familiar percolating and gurgling starts and coffee rises into the top chamber, remove from heat and serve. Use moderate heat to prevent bitter extraction and avoid overfilling the filter.
Care is simple but specific: rinse the parts with clean water after each use; do not use detergents or a dishwasher, which will harm the finish and alter flavor. Seasoning the moka by running a few cycles of hot water (or water and coffee) before regular use can help stabilize performance. Grind size matters: too fine can clog the filter and cause overpressure; too coarse will yield weak, under-extracted coffee. Pairing the Moka with blends ground for moka-style brewing—ranging from lighter Milano roasts to darker Napoli-style blends—will help you get the best flavor.
Pros

VerdictA timeless, affordable way to make strong, flavorful coffee at home. The Moka Express delivers a rich, concentrated brew without the complexity or cost of an espresso machine. It’s robust, easy to operate and maintain if you follow the rinse-only care instructions. Best for those who want authentic stovetop moka coffee—keep grind size and heat moderate, and expect a small learning curve to dial in

Dependable and simple
They’ve been making this design for decades for good reason. Easy to use, easy to clean, and once you find the right grind size it makes terrific coffee every time.

Worth the investment
I hesitated over a larger, pricier model but bought the Bialetti and haven’t regretted it. The build quality beats the cheap copies I tried. Even if production has shifted, the engineering and flavor are excellent—this one outperforms many knockoffs.

From a coffee nerd — highly recommended
I used this brand at work and bought one for home in a fun color. The coffee quality is better than most shops near me, and it’s far cheaper than an espresso machine. I often brew ahead and refrigerate shots for iced americanos; warming the water first speeds the brew.

Classic brewer with one gripe
It’s the original stovetop design and makes rich, flavorful coffee best enjoyed concentrated or diluted. The pot feels solid and cleans easily, but the handle can get uncomfortably hot when you lift it right off the stove. Otherwise performance is excellent.

Bigger is better
Finally gave it a try and the coffee is outstanding.

Arrived with defects
Packaging was crushed and there were black specks inside the pot on arrival.

Great results—season it first
I love the 3-cup. Run three pots of water (and coffee) first to season and learn the rhythm. If you grind fresh, about 12 g works for this size. I leveled the grounds by tapping the funnel and used a metal filter over the stovetop for gentler heat distribution. It starts to gurgle within minutes and the coffee pours out smoothly.

Solid, well-built kitchen staple
This trusty moka pot is sturdy and simple. Three main parts—water chamber, funnel, collector—make it easy to understand and operate. It produces a bold, concentrated cup and will last a long time with basic care. Great for anyone who wants a reliable stovetop coffee maker.

The original still shines
This is the bona fide classic moka. The 3-cup yields roughly 100–130 ml, depending on how you measure espresso cups. Cheaper clones exist, but the original’s material quality and longevity justify choosing this one. Simple to use: fill to the valve, add the filter and medium-fine grounds, heat gently, and enjoy.

We absolutely adore it
We switched back to the Moka Express and couldn’t be happier. It outperformed multiple electric espresso machines we tried—simple, tasty, and inexpensive. Setup and cleanup are straightforward, and the percolating method lets you start it and step away until it’s done. For us it’s become the go-to.

Perfect for home café con leche
I wanted to make Cuban-style coffee at home and the 3-cup Bialetti fits the bill. After some trial and error I found a routine that produces great shots for lattes. Remember: this isn’t a pressurized espresso machine, so adjust grind and heat for best results.
